Ali Fights Back (Guest Post)

December 9, 2010

Hello there readers – this is Ali and I am finally here to defend myself from Ameena’s countless acts of defamation.

First off, I am not the tech obsessed loser you all think I am, nor am I the forgetful dad Ameena loves to portray me as. Okay, so maybe I forgot Maya’s snack on a couple of occasions, but she didn’t exactly starve to death, right?  And sure, I love to collect cables, but really, who doesn’t?

Anyway, I have proof that Ameena isn’t so innocent herself!

Vacation… this is a time to unplug right? Not my wife! Who knows what she’s doing here but it appears NYC is no match for the allure of the iPad.

Here she is at it again. Forget that Leo Di Caprio is sitting behind her – Ameena is too busy catching up on work to really care.

Just as an aside, do you think the iPad could be any closer to her face?

Gadget geek? Me? Here she is caught in the act of adjusting the camera settings while Maya is in the bathtub next to her.

What kind of mother focuses on her camera settings when her daughter is in the bathtub? Not a very good one, I can assure you of that.

So now, after hard evidence…am I really the technology nerd in the family? Or is it my “quick to point fingers” wife Ameena?

I think the answer is crystal clear to us all!

This is the funniest post ever! I’m seriously cracking up!

The last one is the best!

  2. December 9, 2010 3:34 am

Too funny. 🙂 and who doesn’t get a bit too much gadget time in these days with our iPhones, iPads, Blackberries, laptops etc? I know I’m guilty.

  3. December 9, 2010 3:57 am

    So Funny 🙂 I can’t put my iPad down….. so sorry Ali… I kinda relate 🙂

  4. December 9, 2010 4:03 am

Oh snap – Ameena I hope you were aware of this. 🙂 If not, you can surely get him back. Maybe I should rethink the Husband stories after this one… 🙂

  5. December 9, 2010 4:06 am

You tell her! My husband is completely obsessed with his Ipad as well. Oh, and you don’t want to know what I’m doing when my kids are in the tub. 😛

  7. December 9, 2010 4:19 am

he he he… I’ve heard those ipads just suck you in like no other.

I guess now we have proof. 🙂

  8. December 9, 2010 4:27 am

Fabulous to meet you Ali, and way cool of you to write a guest blog. I wonder if my Mr P would ever do the same… though I hate it when he hogs my computer 😉 I can’t hold it against Ameena that she loves her Apple toys though, so do I!!!! Apple products are a thing to be loved and cherished, anyone with good taste likes to be surrounded by them :D.
    *kisses* HH

  9. December 9, 2010 4:37 am

Ha! Guess there are two sides to every story… 😉

  10. December 9, 2010 4:44 am

I love this! Oh Ali – your not all bad – you married Ameena, so you must be a smart and funny man 🙂

  11. December 9, 2010 4:49 am

LOL…I was wondering when this post was coming 🙂

  12. December 9, 2010 5:20 am

Just because you prove she is a tech geek doesn’t prove you’re not one. 🙂

But, you manage very well with two very strong women so I applaud you (you and my husband should get together).

    Who gets round 3, Maya?

  13. December 9, 2010 6:01 am

    Busted, Ameena. Busted.

  14. December 9, 2010 6:26 am

Hahaha, I suppose it’s only fair for Ali to share his side of the story. Looks like you might have a *slight* interest in gadgets too, Ameena 😉

  15. December 9, 2010 6:44 am

Lol, love it! I wish my hubby would do a guest post! 😉

  16. December 9, 2010 6:53 am

LOL. Is it sad that I just focused on how good Ameena’s hair looks in all of these pictures?

  17. December 9, 2010 6:54 am

Agreed with above comments. This post was a long time coming. I can’t imagine why anyone might be distracted by technology with Leo behind them, but then again I wouldn’t exactly justify turning around to stare at him and wonder when he’s going to ask me if I want to go to a real party (Titanic reference).

I can’t for Maya to be old enough to fight back against both of you on here. Now that is going to be classic.

  18. December 9, 2010 7:09 am

Wait, is this really Ali or you in an Ali voice? 🙂

    • December 9, 2010 7:41 am

This really is Ali…although I must admit I edited for grammar. 🙂

  19. December 9, 2010 7:35 am

Ha ha ha ha. I loved this!!

Also, it brings us closer to the day Maya blogs in response.

  20. December 9, 2010 7:51 am

I’m waiting to hear from maya. “Maya fights back” but I have a feeling it will end up being a tell-all book.

  21. December 9, 2010 7:52 am

    Ooo score one for Ali!

Ali, your wife is beautiful so all her quirks are naturally forgiven 😉

I am waiting for Maya to strike back and i am sure that will be SUPERB!

I love it! The couple who laughs together stays together, right? Were you aware of him snapping photos of the damning evidence for the prosecution?

Lol. Where we would we be without our ipads Ameena? If you were giving a choice to leave behind an iPad or the gucci bag, I know you would grab the iPad and run! Btw, great pics of you!!!!

  26. December 9, 2010 8:20 am

Loved this post! So do you guys ever talk to each other out loud? In a family so enamoured with technology, I would think maybe you would communicate via text messages and e-mails, and maybe the occasional grunt to remind a slow responder to check their inbox. You know, in case you get impatient waiting for someone to pass the pepper.

    • December 9, 2010 8:16 pm

We prefer to IM instead of talk aloud. It’s less messy that way. Plus there is a written record of what was said!

  27. December 9, 2010 8:30 am

    haha! caught red handed!

  28. December 9, 2010 8:34 am

Hi Ali, nice to meet you 🙂 This post is hilarious!

  29. December 9, 2010 8:37 am

Haha, great post. Busted! Nice work Ali!

  30. December 9, 2010 8:38 am

Hilarious! You two are a great team.

And yes, I also noticed how amazing Ameena’s hair looks in every photo.

  31. December 9, 2010 8:41 am

Busted!!! This is so funny. Apparently you two are quite a pair. But hey, technology is hard to resist these days and I am POSITIVE that Ali is 10X more addicted then you. Just like you said.

  32. December 9, 2010 8:45 am

oh no, i think you photoshopped these pictures because youre uite the technologically advanced person 😉

    ameena your hair looks great.

  33. December 9, 2010 8:47 am

you guys are *too* cute! love this tit for tat!

  34. December 9, 2010 8:47 am

hehe! Hello Mr. Ali, that a good fight back! Ameena why the hell r u so well dressed all the time? :)?

  35. December 9, 2010 8:48 am

Oh whatever Mister! What kind of a dad would rather catch his wife red-handed than tend to the child in the tub, eh? 😉

You guys are funny. Clearly you’re made for each other as evidenced by the humor, the gadget-addiction, and the insanely adorable daughter you created:))

  36. December 9, 2010 8:52 am

    Hahaha I loved this!

  37. December 9, 2010 9:14 am

Oh my gosh! Literally laughing out loud right now .. It’s so great that you guys both have a sense of humor and can play it off of each other like that!

  38. December 9, 2010 9:28 am

This is hilarious! Ali should post more often! Ameena, this is completely besides the point, but as a huge positive, you look STUNNING! I know I always tell you this, but you are gorgeous!
    Barbara

  39. December 9, 2010 9:29 am

Ok – this is officially one of my all time favorite posts!

Ali, I have one question for you though – how long have you been taking these pictures of Ameena and plotting this guest post? It seems pretty premeditated if you ask me. 🙂

      December 9, 2010 9:33 pm

It did actually take several weeks of collecting these pictures to build my case. She wouldn’t let me post my other ideas so I finally had one with pictures in it.

  40. December 9, 2010 9:47 am

A husband and wife blarguement! I love it. Tim and I had one over rainbows. I think that it makes both parties techie geeks when you take your disputes to the blog world! There really is no winner here, Ali.

  41. December 9, 2010 9:47 am

I wish when my husband sneaks pictures of me I was so well put together. Usually his pics of me are: blurry, when I am about to shove an onion ring in my face, when I am in mis matched sweats and proably his shirt, makeup-less (okay that’s always the case) and dis-shevled. (okay, same here too)

you are so poised and stylish, and what’s not to love about the iPad???

I have one and I never get to use it because everyone else is stealing a “turn”. However I’ve been hogging the Xbox quite a bit lately…paybacks!

    you guys make me laugh!

  42. December 9, 2010 9:57 am

Okay – you are all too kind with the hair comments. The truth is that Ali included a photo where I looked terrible so I replaced it with one where I looked far more presentable.

Yes, I tampered with his post. But it was for your own good! You really didn’t want to see my hair in it’s original state.

    Really.

  43. December 9, 2010 9:59 am

You guys are too funny! I can’t wait for a guest post from Maya!

  44. December 9, 2010 10:34 am

Lol! You guys are the Indian version of Gary and I, except much more technology advanced. You can just call us Fred and Wilma from now on ;-). Fred has actually been asking me if he can do a guest post, I refused for this exact reason.

It was great to meet you Mr. Jetson…er…I mean Ali 😀

  45. December 9, 2010 11:43 am

Hahaha Ali must love the fact that Maya is on the laptop next to you 🙂

  46. December 9, 2010 12:17 pm

LOL..I really loved your hubs clarifications on your acts of defaming him:) So cute!
I was in NY on Thanksgiving and I cudnt keep down the ipad n iphone either. Mine clicked the photos and shows me evrytime I complain he’s too busy with work!

  47. December 9, 2010 12:25 pm

    Ameena, you’ve been caught red-handed!

I have to agree with everyone, you have absolutely GORGEOUS hair.

PS – I thought the tea was going to be like sugar cookie sleigh ride too. Maybe it was the lemur on the front that threw me off?

You guys are too funny! I have to admit, Ali, that anyone who is a cable collector is the true techy geek though. I live with one. However, if you had focused your point on her ‘addiction’ to her i-pad, I would have been forced to side with you on that one;-)!!

Nope, I think it’s still you Ali. Sorry! Ameena’s fabulous and of course she must use her ipad for blogging purposes. And, it also looks as if she may have been framed in some of these shots, I’m sure of it. And, as you are a tech geek, you could obviously have used some picture tooleys to superimpose an ipad into pictures. Good try!

Ali, my first thought about you was you must be Awesome! to convince Ameena to marry you and have your child.

My second thought after seeing your pic and reading about you is whoa, that’s a handsome dude, quite successful, averagely tech-obsessed for a male, and boy you must be Awesome! since Ameena and Maya clearly love you dearly.

*Psssst, don’t forget the Net-a-Porter card you promised me if I praised you in public.*

My third thought after reading your guestblog post is you must be Awesome! if Ameena lets you have you satirically defend yourself here. After all, what does she need with ogling Leonard diCaprio when she’s got you?

Interesting post. Reminded me of some spiritual insights on the subject that I felt like sharing:

“…they (your wives) are your garments and you are a garment for them…” The Qur’an 2:187

  64. December 10, 2010 8:38 pm

If Derek reads this post, he might fall in love with Ali. We can’t let that happen.

I think that Ameena just looks dead sexy in all the photos and you’re a bit sad because she’s not paying attention to you? Hmm?

Having said that, I do like a man who can stand up for himself. On occasion.

    🙂

  65. December 10, 2010 9:05 pm

Go Ameena go! Sorry Ali, but Ameena has too many devoted followers and fans to be swayed by this post…not too mention, most of us devoted fans get caught doing the same thing…and she’s got an iPad! So jealous!
Good try Ali! Love that you tried to give your side of it, but women are tightly bound by their neurotic behaviours and their shared enjoyment of making fun of their mates.

Ali, I was wondering how long you were going to let the ruse continue…you know, the one wher we let our girls believe that they think that we think that they are the boss and that we are quite incapable, therefore we have to pretend to be the hapless spouse, born out by letting our wives think they are publically exposing our pre-planned minor deficiencies. The last laugh is always with us as those public deficiencies have been purposefully created to ensure we never have to iron any clothes or make a cappacino or do the shopping or…….hang on a tick…….sorry, I had to take a break, Deb wanted a hot water bottle…..yes dear 😉

  67. December 10, 2010 10:01 pm

Oh my, this made me laugh so loud! Ryan and I have been following your sweet family for awhile now, and I loved hearing the “other” side of the story. Your wife is BEAUTIFUL, by the way. You are a lucky man on many accounts (and I know that she is a lucky woman too!) Thanks for sharing 🙂

Is it bad that the only thing I really got out of this post is that I really love that scarf in the bathroom shot?

    • December 11, 2010 8:28 pm

Oh thank you! The scarf came from my mother-in-law, as 99% of my things do!

  69. December 11, 2010 11:57 am

Side question to you: Is there going to be a wedding in February? You mentioned one in Minnesota a while back, so just curious if that was going on for sure or not. I’m going to Chicago at some point in February, but it would be fun to meet up if possible. You can rant about your family, and I can rant about sucking for not posting anything to my blog lately. Just a thought! 🙂

  70. December 11, 2010 5:58 pm
