it’s been a while
It’s been a long time since I’ve thought about blogging, mostly because things have been difficult.
To say the least.
And for so many reasons I’ve started to wonder: is there really any point dwelling on the little things?
I mean, in the grand scheme of things, is it productive to complain about Maya’s inability to utilize a fork or a placemat, thereby ensuring crumbs are all over the dining table and floor?
(I feel them under my feet RIGHT NOW).
Or what about Ali’s predisposition for buying loose leaf tea in quantities fit for a small village? Or the fact that I encountered (and almost slipped on) yet ANOTHER pair of his socks on the floor this morning?
And since I was on a roll with the self-inflection, I also wondered: should I be publishing this information for the world to see? Or more importantly, does the world really care when there’s so much more important stuff going on right now?
I think we all know the answer to that.
Still…I’m hesitant to call it a day just yet. So maybe – for once – I’ll just play it by ear and see how it goes…

I care…Thank You for sharing
Thank you Christina for your kind comment. And thank you for reading!
I care too 🙂
Elaine…when are you coming to visit us in NYC?
I think, amidst all the big stuff in the world, venting about the little things that annoy us helps keep us sane. You must do what is right for you but, for what it’s worth, I love your posts. Little bits of real life in a hyperbolic world. Xxx
Thank you Amanda for your kind comment, and for reading.
I care!!!!
Thank you Sana!!
never comment, but i always enjoy reading your blog!
Ida…thank you for delurking to say so!!
It HAS been a while! But I welcome hearing from you:)
Thank you Ellen!
I second what Amanda said. Venting and/or laughing at the inane aspects of life is healthy. Plus, it’s fun for those of us who get to read about the crumbs or enough tea to supply a village.
I bet you can related to the crumbs Heather…
So glad to see that you are back! With so much in the world that makes us want to grumble and complain, I for one, love to read your hilarious take on the little things in life. Still following and still reading the old posts for a chuckle. ☺️
Thank you Priya for your kind comment, and for reading!!
Delurking to post! I found your blog a few years back, and absolutely love it 🙂 Such a breath of fresh air, humor, and humanity as I slog through grad school and the news gets more depressing each day 🙂 Between this blog and your instagram (#scrambledegggoals), it’s such a pick me up for when I’m tired and sick of Dumb Grad School
TLDR: Still care 🙂
I admire you for going to grad school DV…I was never an academic and really admire those who can study so much. Thanks for reading…
I always enjoy your posts and find them amusing. And yes, there are a lot of horrid things happening in our world right now, but we have to find what pleasures we can. Keep posting the little things and we’ll keep supporting you. 🙂
Thank you Nomad, I appreciate your kind words!
Hi Ameena…….it’s good to have somewhere to vent so stay for awhile.

I love the humor in your posts. Need bits of humor to survive the insanity in the world right now. Also, it makes me feel normal when I’m dealing with my 6yr old 🙂

It’s been a long time since you blogged and it’s been a while since I’ve checked. I have noticed that the bloggers I used to avidly read because they wrote avidly no longer do so. The culture and the atmosphere in the blogging world has changed -many have left to move to social media. I was on FB for a good long while and about ten or so months ago realized I really needed a break from it. It had become a place of whining, complaining, finger pointing, and very little substance. So at the end of October 2016, for a number of reasons, I left it completely. cold turkey. I swear it was like a drug. The first two weeks I think I reactivated my account multiple times only to reactivate it minutes later realizing not much had happened or changed. I’m on IG now, and I like it much better. It’s a set up that makes it so I’m not thinking out loud and sharing it each and every minute. I like seeing the pictures of my friends, etc. I miss the old culture of blogging. I miss the writings and the introspection and observations shared. Social media has cut our thoughts into short little snippets, “120 characters” so to speak. Thanks for holding on. I have always felt that your blog served two purposes: a place for you to half heartedly vent, and a place that speaks my mind about my own family -all tongue in cheek, and all very healthy.
I really love Instagram too…there’s just something so great about seeing beautiful pictures, and there’s no pressure on IG to respond. Love that.
Hey this sounded really down and not like you Ameena. I hope you will keep at it. You raise my spirits unfailingly and I adore your posts 🙂 xx
Thank you my friend…things are slowly getting easier….
I hope so. You’re much appreciated 🙂
