accommodation

March 6, 2012

Last Friday I broke up with my dentist.

Looking back, I realize that our breakup was imminent, even though I’d somehow missed the signs:

  • Her strolling in at 9:30 am for my 9 am appointment – with no apology to be found.
  • The up selling tactics that were getting harder to ignore (e.g. I don’t want your f@#$% fluoride treatment!).
  • Did I mention the ridiculous wait times?

But my last visit? My last visit was the final straw. There I was, watching my fingernails grow for 40 minutes when I happened to catch sight of my dentist comfortably thumbing through People magazine.

I'll spare you a photo of my b@#$ dentist. What about a picture of the tasty salad I had at La Sandia in Santa Monica instead?

Dentist: “If you’re in such a rush you’re welcome to reschedule.”  This. From the dentist herself.

Me: “I can’t simply reschedule. I have this crazy thing called a JOB. And I feel oddly compelled to go to it seeing as they pay me to do so.”

Dentist: “Fine. We can accommodate you by getting your cleaning done. But since you’re in a rush you’ll have to come back for the exam.”

Me: “Wait a second…you’re not accommodating ME because I have an appointment!”

Or the salmon with baked goat cheese I had at La Piazza at the Grove?

*Insert huge sigh from the dentist. And a smart ass comment about how I need to be more understanding that things run behind sometimes (apparently this includes catching up on celebrity gossip).*

I think the dentist’s meds kicked in though because after one of the most painful cleanings I’ve ever had she calmly said: “Feel free to make an appointment to come back for the exam and we’ll do your x-rays then.”

Or the fantastic swordfish I had - also at La Piazza - but on a different day. I agree - this is not such a nice picture. Maybe you would have rather seen my B@#$ dentist?

Seriously? I guess it’s only obvious to me that I won’t be subsidizing the lease on her Mercedes anymore.

Like I said: nobody wants to do their job anymore. Nobody.

    Ask Deb for a referral!

I love my dentist too. He’s quiet and I can tell he doesn’t do it for the money. plus, he drives a prius. That must count for something.

Seeing as you live near me…can you please this lovely man’s name?

That is appalling! I can’t believe she had the gall to have you come back for the rest of the exam. What terrible behavior.

  3. March 6, 2012 1:05 am

God!!!! What a despicable woman. I would have walked out on her the first time she made me wait.

    • March 6, 2012 8:01 pm

Don’t all dentists make you wait? It seems inevitable…

  4. March 6, 2012 1:18 am

ok thats a bit uptight on her part. I think its good to part ways from such a dentist …and I saw these pictures just before my lunch Hour (lunch delayed) hence made me really hungry 😦

    • March 6, 2012 8:02 pm

Glad my sad little photos were appetizing! I am terrible with a camera.

  5. March 6, 2012 1:52 am

Loved your opening line. Dentists can be pretty weird. Good luck on the next one.

    • March 6, 2012 8:02 pm

Thanks. I think I am a magnet for bad dentists though…maybe it’s me??

  6. March 6, 2012 2:04 am

Are you freaking kidding me? What a jackass. It almost sounds like she’s a character from a Judd Apatow movie. WTF? I wish you had that salad with you so you could have gently placed it on top of her head and walked out. All I know is that I want to go to La Sandia now – so good – love that place!

    • March 6, 2012 8:03 pm

Come to LA and I will take you to La Sandia. We can bond over our terrible customer service experiences…

      Judd Apatow… I love it!

  7. March 6, 2012 2:59 am

Wow I would have left that b1tch a looong time ago…because let’s be honest, dentists ain’t cheap! Sometimes I think my dentist is a bit too prompt (i.e. if my appointment is at 10 am, she’ll call too see where I am at 10.01 am) but I guess I have it pretty good! Although this has nothing to do with your point, how irritating is it when dentists try to make conversation with you WHILST they’re working on your mouth:

    Dentist: How’s your day going
    You/Me: Gra aghr grah arhg

On a pleasant note, both your meals look delicious 🙂

    • March 6, 2012 8:04 pm

I want to go to your dentist. Because I am always early!! And this despite my dentist running late at every appointment. You’d think I would learn?

  8. March 6, 2012 3:40 am

Just to let you know – I find that you are one of the hardest people I can connect with. I don’t mean in character-wise but in technology-wise. For some reason – when I receive a email of your latest blog post – one clicking on the link to take me to your blog so I can read and comment – it seems to go into this loop of ‘waiting to connect’. I am then forced to type your URL in the address bar and guess what – same problem. I then have wait for like 20 mins for your site to eventually appear so I can write this. It’s not the first time but it’s being going on for a long time.

One thing you can do, is sue your dentist for impacting your earning ability by keeping you waiting – when you could be out earning.

Luckily for me, the dentists I have had all seem to be good at their job and have had good manners in dealing with me. This is because I am on a scheme called Den-Plan. It’s bloody brilliant.

    • March 6, 2012 8:05 pm

I’m so sorry you have trouble connecting to my site…nobody else has complained about this? Could it be your ISP? I wish I knew what to do but truly, I have no idea.

As far as the Den-Plan, I would love to see that in operation here in California. I can only imagine what I’d do with all the money and time I’d save!

  9. March 6, 2012 4:26 am

    No! She did? That’s AWFUL!

    Best breakup ever.

    • March 6, 2012 8:05 pm

I don’t regret one minute of our breakup…I only wish I’d cut the cord sooner!

  10. March 6, 2012 5:04 am

I broke up with my dentist because she was a money grubber.
Seriously. Every time I went there, I had a cavity. I needed dental work. And AND she refused to premedicate me with an antibiotic because I was “creating a superbug”…lady I have more metal in my spine than Flava Flav has in his teeth. If I get a blood borne infection, my back won’t look right…plus my neurosurgeon who is ranked in the top 50 in the US says I need to be on them so there.
Wow who knew that this comment box would become my place of unloading. Gah I feel so much better.

    • March 6, 2012 8:06 pm

Unload away my friend because I’m laughing my a$$ off right now. Flava Flav? I love it.

  11. March 6, 2012 5:32 am

Holy smokes! What a b*%tch! It’s time to kick her to the curb. If she treats everyone that way she won’t be driving a fancy car much longer. I’m in the process of finding a new doctor as well. Good riddance.

    • March 6, 2012 8:07 pm

Are there any good dentists? Because I have yet to find one!! Please, will someone give me hope?

  12. March 6, 2012 6:15 am

wow!! my mom is a hygienist…she could give you a great cleaning!! just come to NC. 😉

    • March 6, 2012 8:12 pm

I almost want to fly across the country, just so I can get a cleaning done by a friendly person…

  13. March 6, 2012 6:23 am

Ever heard of customer service!? Geez! I hate doctors who have sticks up their butts…or anyone like that actually. I’m so mad for you, Ameena!

    • March 6, 2012 8:13 pm

I’m so glad that you are mad for me!! It makes me feel so much better.

  14. March 6, 2012 6:36 am

I wonder if they would have been as accomodating if you decided you were going to pay on your own time as well?

    • March 6, 2012 8:13 pm

Of course not. It’s cash up front…no question about that one!

  15. March 6, 2012 7:02 am

Oh I’d much rather see pics of your incredible meals, they all look so delicious. This is a hard one because I know they are always off schedule, but at least she can be sympathetic and make you feel like a valued patient. Hope you find a better dentist. I have had my fair share of not great dentists, best of luck.

  16. March 6, 2012 7:29 am

I broke up with my dentist a few years ago and have yet to find a decent replacement. I feel like they are all trying to sell me on stuff and all I want is someone to clean my teeth and fix any cavities. That’s it.

    • March 6, 2012 8:14 pm

That’s all I want. Actually, I just want someone to clean my teeth and be on time. Why is that so much to ask for?

  17. March 6, 2012 7:29 am

lol, seriously? im surprised u dint ditch her long back!!she sounds positively horrid!

    • March 6, 2012 8:15 pm

She was horrid. And I am a slow learner…I wish I’d dumped her ages ago.

  18. March 6, 2012 7:39 am

–Here’s what you need to say to your dentist: “Kiss My A#% !!!! ”

Who does she think she is, Freaking Paris Hilton?

    Xxx

    • March 6, 2012 8:16 pm

I wish I had it in me to say something like that but I was just impressed that I confronted her to the extent I did…I’m usually SO non-confrontational.

  19. March 6, 2012 7:40 am

    Holy moly! How awful!

  20. March 6, 2012 7:49 am

that is APPALLING. definitely get a new dentist!

    • March 6, 2012 8:16 pm

Definitely on my list of to-dos…luckily I have 6 months to worry about it. 🙂

  21. March 6, 2012 7:55 am

That is seriously atocious customer service. I would have mentioned the People magazine!!

    • March 6, 2012 8:37 pm

I totally wanted to but somehow couldn’t get the words out. Not sure why?

  22. March 6, 2012 7:57 am

I am so impatient, that would have made me go bananas. I understand Dr.’s run behind, but I can’t believe she gave YOU an attitude, her customer!! I would write a scathing note. Or I’d be too lazy to write a note, but I’d definitely tell everyone I know never to go there.

    • March 6, 2012 8:38 pm

I’m too lazy to write a note, mostly because I know she’s too lazy to read it. Unless it’s in People magazine I doubt she reads much…

  23. March 6, 2012 8:00 am

I love your retort. I wish I could borrow your brilliancy. I wish I could see the world through your eyes and chuckle all day long. At least I get to do so a couple times a week.

    • March 6, 2012 8:38 pm

Of my 3 siblings I am the weakest when it comes to retorts. Crazy that you think I’m brilliant!

  24. March 6, 2012 8:14 am

That was awful. Going to the doctor is never a pleasant experience and to have to deal with that, was just awful. I could not believe the dentist said that to you and that after she made you wait for 40 minutes (while she’s leisurely reading People magazine)??? Bad dentist! She’s sabotaging her own practice (maybe she’s secretly wanting to have her own reality show: “Dentist Extraordinaire – When Bad Things Happen to Good Patient”).
I hope you find a better (& punctual) dentist pronto!

    • March 6, 2012 8:39 pm

This may be a good reality TV pitch!! You have a good eye Lydia. 🙂

  25. March 6, 2012 8:15 am

We left our old family doctor for that exact reason. I mean, I understand in a doctors office things run behind all the time. But if I made an appointment, I shouldn’t be waiting two hours. My time is important too thank you very much. I have things to do. That’s why I made an appointment, and didn’t just show up and hope for the best.

    • March 6, 2012 8:40 pm

Even with an appointment I feel like I show up and hope for the best. This is a problem with any and all doctors! So frustrating.

  26. March 6, 2012 8:21 am

Maybe you should have included the photo so we can all stay way from her :), just in case she decides to move to the East Coast b/c she ran out of patients back in LA.

    • March 6, 2012 8:41 pm

Good point. Only now I have no plans to go back so I can’t surreptitiously get her photo!

  27. March 6, 2012 8:25 am

That’s a pretty ridiculous situation with your dentist. You should give out her name so we could warn others to stay away from her lol.. I for one dislike going to a dentist (nothing personal), good thing my dentist is ok. Btw the food pics look yummy! 😀

    • March 6, 2012 8:42 pm

Does anybody like going to the dentist? Probably not. But at least your dentist is ok! That’s all I ask…

  28. March 6, 2012 8:29 am

The only chair I am scared of is the dentist chair. I haven’t seen one in ages.

I know my comment was totally off the topic. But it was really unprofessional of your dentist to behave in this manner. She’ll learnt a lesson sooner or later when she will have to wait for an appt for herself.

    • March 6, 2012 8:43 pm

A few years ago I didn’t see a dentist for a while but then I had to have a root canal. And now I go like clockwork – ever 6 months!

    • March 6, 2012 8:44 pm

I hate everyone in the medical profession.

    • March 6, 2012 8:45 pm

A few more experiences like this and I fear I will be right there with you on this…

  32. March 6, 2012 9:31 am

Bloody hell… How rude! I’d put in a formal written complaint.

My dentist is really good looking, very prompt and really chatty… Did I mention he’s really good looking, my knees go all wobly and since I’ve met him my toothache won’t go away ;(

    • March 6, 2012 8:45 pm

A good-looking dentist would probably make the wait worthwhile.

Mine isn’t good-looking or nice. Or a particularly good dentist. So I’ve got nothing.

  33. March 6, 2012 9:31 am

What? This is outright crazy. You of all people, organized, punctual, have had to deal with some winners. Sorry about your ex-dentist. There really are great dentists out there. She was a woman? You need a man.

I wish you could come to mine. It’s a husband and wife. I see him. He’s awesome Ameena. And he’s really cute. So, every time I have an appt. my husband let’s me know by saying “guess where you get to go.” I always know….the dentist. Hahahahaha.

Alright, the food looks spectacular. I’m going to make myself a salad as close to the one pictured. I love swordfish and I’m jealous of all these places you get to eat.

OKAY onto bigger and better and more manly dentists!!!!!!! Take care Ameena and happy eating-

    Shauna

    • March 6, 2012 8:47 pm

      Another person with a good-looking dentist…I’m jealous.

The truth is that I don’t care what he/she looks like, I just want him/her to have a watch. And to use it!

  34. March 6, 2012 9:41 am

Wow. I had a similar “break-up” with my internist. She habitually runs an hour to an hour and a half behind and all her staff can say is, “Well, she gives comprehensive care, so we can’t rush her.” How about not scheduling a patient every hour then? Your dinner looks tasty, btw.

    • March 6, 2012 8:48 pm

I think that doctors/dentists just pack people in…one after another…with no break. That’s so frustrating for patients!

I agree – let’s space out the scheduling just a bit.

  35. March 6, 2012 9:43 am

Amen! I rush out of work, RUN to catch public transit, sprint into my doctor’s office panting like I ran a marathon only to wait in the waiting room for an hour because things are running behind… every time. I’d love to pull this when appearing before a judge. Sorry your honor, just running an hour behind today. What do you mean you are no longer on the bench?!? GAH!

    • March 6, 2012 8:49 pm

Well said my friend!! Why isn’t this “lateness” carried over to other professions? I mean, why can’t I make people wait for my quarterly numbers?

  36. Katie permalink
    March 6, 2012 10:16 am

Ugh, you made a good decision to leave! I broke up with my last dentist because, apart from being too expensive, her assistant was rude and unprofessional. She made comments that I should find a rich guy so I could afford to get the work done I wanted and that my teeth could affect me getting a job (they are not perfect and this was a cosmetic dentist’s office) – things that made me feel more terrible than I already did. Before that, in my teenage years, I had a dentist say I would never be able to handle the pain of childbirth because I wasn’t good in the dental chair!! Now? I have a dentist with a simple office where I wait 15-45 minutes typically, but he is always working, apologizes and is very understanding of my dental anxieties. I hope you find a good one!!

    • March 6, 2012 8:50 pm

Wow. I’m not an expert but that first dentist seems pretty out of line to me. Although 15-45 minutes is bordering on ridiculous. I suppose an apology goes a long way though…

  37. March 6, 2012 10:36 am

After that conversation with the dentist, I would be so scared to let her near my teeth. A good dentist is hard to come by, I can’t stand it either when they start selling all their stuff. I found my dentist through word of mouth… always works. 🙂 The salads look amazing.

  38. March 6, 2012 10:43 am

this reminds me of our child doctor… we still go there even though my siblings and I arnt kids anymore..they convinced my mom that we are still eligible to earn them a lot of money through our visits…smh. i actually guest posted on my brothers blog about that..urgh. i wish i had someone in my family who would take care of all our dental and medical needs. life would be so much easier that way..and less waiting.

    the food looks amazing btw.

    • March 6, 2012 8:52 pm

I wish I’d married a doctor. Or a dentist. Because at least I would have one or the other covered.

    Ameena,
Absolutely fabulous post! The juxtasposition of the luscious repasts with the woeful tale of your dentist’s behavior was tres amusant. Also adored how you showed us via dialogue rather than merely told us about her ridiculous behavior.

BTW if you need a new dentist I have a fabulous, artistic, and way over-priced one I’ve seen for years.

Now onto personal…. I MISS YOU! We need to carve out time from your work so I can take you to lunch. We’ll celebrate the demise of your dental bonds and belatedly your birthday. Let me know. Big, big hug!

    • March 6, 2012 8:53 pm

I miss you too Leslie! I’d love to chat about this fabulously overpriced dentist you see over lunch. I will definitely let you know when I can get away from work! 🙂

  40. March 6, 2012 12:09 pm

Love that you stood up for yourself. Why do doctors make us wait so long…

    • March 6, 2012 8:53 pm

Because they can. Because we keep going back for more…

  41. March 6, 2012 12:13 pm

Sometimes, breaking up isn’t too hard to do!

    • March 6, 2012 8:54 pm

Exactly. And this was the easiest break up ever. 🙂

  42. March 6, 2012 12:14 pm

Whilst your lovely pictures DID distract me, I totally think you’re in the right here. I had to dump my dentist after he suggested to replace a crown on a tooth, that he put on 3 years ago. Which would include a root canal. I’d had a root canal on 2 other teeth in the past 2 years. Got a second opinion. Not needed. I was so mad. He just wanted billable procedures. Even his handsomeness couldn’t keep me as a patient.

    • March 6, 2012 8:54 pm

A root canal…oh my. SO glad you got a second opinion because I had a root canal and I’ll never forget how horribly painful (and expensive) it was.

  43. March 6, 2012 1:44 pm

There seems to be no such thing a customer service anywhere anymore…hope you find a great replacement!
And the food all looks fantastic…I so need a trip to the Grove 🙂

    • March 6, 2012 8:55 pm

And when you make it to the Grove let me know! So we can meet up. 🙂

  44. March 6, 2012 2:12 pm

Though I will say, from what I learned on GCB this week is that you should make sure that the car your doctor drives is at least somewhat decent. Because what if they lost a lawsuit? I’m not saying, but I’m just saying.

Plus, People has really gone downhill in the past few years. Couldn’t they at least choose something a little bit more riveting? Or at least a little bit more relevant, as in Stars….They’re just like Us!

    • March 6, 2012 8:58 pm

I agree! People is so uninteresting now. I used to get a weekly subscription and I’d devour it! But I stopped that years ago due to the utterly boring format People adapted.

  46. March 6, 2012 4:10 pm

Love the phrase “watching my fingernails grow”! Never heard that before. I have to go to the dentist soon and I don’t want to!

    • March 6, 2012 8:59 pm

You have my utmost sympathy…I hope that you have a good dentist at least?

  47. March 6, 2012 4:56 pm

    • March 6, 2012 8:59 pm

I don’t have time to mess around either…not sure why so few people understand that.

    • March 7, 2012 9:17 pm

I wish I lived near you too! I’d definitely love to see your dentist. 🙂

  56. March 7, 2012 12:11 am

Faaaaa*k. Pretty nasty dentist. I hate to say it but the medical profession seems to be getting more corrupt and inhuman by the day. My grandmom was sitting with her doctor and waiting for him to give her test results. And he was on the phone talking to his realtor and finalizing a deal on a plot of land. In front of her. I know it is a hard profession and everyone has to work their way up to get to where they’re at: all the more reason to stay grounded, right?

    • March 7, 2012 9:19 pm

So sad for your grandmother – I think that totally sucks. I’m also losing faith in the medical profession…I feel sad generalizing but I have yet to find a dentist/doctor that I am happy with!

  57. March 7, 2012 1:16 am

I fell out with my dentist years ago because I could not park in time and was 5 minutes late – she made me fill out another appointment, told me I had to pay for the one I ‘missed’ (by 5 minutes!!!) and this all for an appointment that was a replacement for an appointment THEY had cancelled previously!! Dentists are, on the whole, greedy and totally unable to relate to people. I’m sure there are some nice ones somewhere – but I’ve never met one…(except for one who is a friend and lives in another country so I have no idea what she is like professionally!)

    • March 7, 2012 9:19 pm

Wow! Did you end up paying for it? I would have gone ballistic on them!

  58. March 7, 2012 2:43 am

I ‘ve never been to a dentist (am almost 30) and i think most Indians don’t unless they have terrible tooth ache or have lost a tooth that’s not a baby tooth. Though the trend is just beginning to change and people are going for regular checkups. Planning to get one myself, but i hope my dentist is like that. I will break up on my first trip if he/she is late, because i too am hopelessly punctual and get really angry when the other person doesn’t honour it.

    • March 7, 2012 9:21 pm

Yes, Indians (in India) don’t often go to the dentist – my dad once told me this is the case. I guess it’s a money thing, especially in the villages?

Anyway, I am hopelessly punctual. I feel your pain.

  59. March 7, 2012 4:03 am

I’m so conflicted do I comment on the food or the wait time? Baked goat cheese looks great but that dentist sitch was crazy. I’m often on the other side of this and get annoyed when clients give me grief after waiting for 5 minutes. Or, if a client doesn’t come out they’ll say “you weren’t with anyone” insinuating how dare I. A half hour and People? There are many dentists in the sea. If you were like me you’d send her an issue of People with a note.

    • March 7, 2012 9:22 pm

I’ve never complained about waiting for 5 minutes but I won’t lie – I get antsy after a few minutes of waiting anywhere! I have problems…

  60. March 7, 2012 6:15 am

That’s ridiculous, Ameena. You might expect that from some other type of service person, but a Dentist?!? I actually can not relate because I have the best dentist/dental staff in the world. Wonderful, caring, accomodating. They’re the best. Maybe you need to make a quick trip to NJ for a check up?!?

    • March 7, 2012 9:22 pm

I wish I could come to NJ…for your dentist and for it’s proximity to NYC. 🙂

  61. March 7, 2012 11:19 am

    One word: Vile.

On behalf of the whole dental industry, I apologize that you had to experience that. I LOVE my dentist, with whom i used to work. I know he does good work as I’ve seen it. Plus he’s not a salesman and he’s got just the right amount of social and professionalism. I refer everyone to him (even when I worked for his former partner) John Adomian on Montana. 310-458-1545. Marilyn is the front desk- I worked with her for years- she’s a sweetie. Tell them Debbie sent you. They’ll take good care of you!

    • March 7, 2012 9:24 pm

Thank you Deb for the recommendation!! I will definitely map out his office – my only issue is the nightmare of getting past the 405. I wouldn’t want to be late after this post. 🙂

  62. March 7, 2012 11:51 am

Ridiculous! WHO do these people think they are!?

“Yes, since I am in a rush I don’t have the time to give you the punch in the face that you deserve,” said Ameena as she stormed out of the office.

    • March 7, 2012 9:24 pm

I wish I’d said that! But I’m not so quick with the come backs…

The crazy part is, the cleaning is the long part, x-rays and the exams are quick! She sounds just awful.

It may be too far for you, but I have a wonderful dentist in downtown LA. I used to be scared of the dentist but after I started going to her, I started to LIKE going to the dentist! I’ve never waited more than 5 minutes and she has never tried to up sell me on anything. Also, the bill comes in the mail 🙂

    • March 7, 2012 9:25 pm

I wish I were closer to downtown LA but it’s a 30 minute trek, and that’s in good traffic. I’m so jealous of your dentist relationship Gwen!

  64. March 7, 2012 7:57 pm

Ugh, breaking up with doctors, hairstylists, all of those people with whom we have a professional relationship – SO HARD! But good for you! That is pretty outrageous on her part, I would say.

    • March 7, 2012 9:26 pm

So hard is right. So inconvenient mostly! But so is waiting while she reads a magazine…

  65. March 7, 2012 8:33 pm

With your excellent flossing habits, you can probably afford to be picky before settling on your next dentist. Time is on your side…:)

    • March 7, 2012 9:27 pm

After the root canal I had 3 years ago I go to the dentist like clockwork – every 6 months. I am paranoid!

  66. March 8, 2012 10:37 am

Sigh. I’m very glad you broke up with her. I think you should send her a break-up letter, like kids used to do in high school. Or maybe just storm into her office with your girlfriends, announce that you don’t want to see her anymore, turn to your friends and sashay right back out. I recall doing that once on the playground and it worked beautifully.

    • March 9, 2012 9:35 am

So funny…I can visualize her stunned face right now. It would be totally worth the effort!

  67. March 8, 2012 1:33 pm

I broke up with my dentist last year. Seriously I did. Even though he was my husband’s buddy, he was still a total jerk. He had this crappy assistant that always managed to plaster my face in my own slobber and never let me rinse my mouth. Finally I got up the courage to ask her if she could minimize the slobber spreading and let me rinse my mouth now and then…then slimeball dentist came in and made fun of me in a very rude manner. So I axed him. Then and there. Haven’t looked back since.

    • March 9, 2012 9:36 am

Is he still your husband’s friend? He sounds like a really stand-up guy…

      • March 9, 2012 10:43 am

They don’t actually hang out anymore…used to be cycling buddies back in the glory days. But yes, my Husband still likes the guy despite his disrespectful behavior toward me. Makes ya wonder…

      • March 9, 2012 2:16 pm

Hmm…definitely makes you wonder. Someone needs to look up “loyalty” in the dictionary. 🙂

  68. March 8, 2012 4:55 pm

Girl you gave me the last kick I needed to deal with my dentist situations…
All I can say is I am all ready to end this relationship now!!!!! LOLLLLL

B/W you know I love reading each and every word you write.

    • March 9, 2012 9:36 am

Thank you Reem! I so appreciate you reading…and your kind comments.

So glad I gave you the courage to kick your dentist to the curb as well. 🙂

  69. March 8, 2012 7:05 pm

Both meals look delicious. And, good plan on finding a new dentist. An occasional wait is bad enough but the rude response was over the top.

  70. March 8, 2012 7:42 pm

    totally divorce that dentist! Hello!

    • March 9, 2012 9:37 am

I’m a slow learner Jennie but I finally get it. 🙂

  71. March 8, 2012 8:42 pm

oh yuck. As if going to the dentist wasn’t bad enough. I hate it. I went a few weeks ago and my gums were sore for DAYS. Good luck finding a better one. I know you will!

    • March 9, 2012 9:38 am

Yes, my dentist makes a horrible chore even worse. Or should I say…former dentist?

  72. March 13, 2012 8:34 pm

dentists have the BEST job…their hours are fabulous…they even have one hour lunches! They also don’t work fridays and make tons of money! Anyways, my dentist told me I needed braces (He wanted to refer me to his friend$$$$$) and speech therapy…WTF.

    • March 14, 2012 7:04 am

My now former dentist was closed on Fridays and her office often closed around 4pm. Best life ever!

Speech therapy? And how is the dentist an expert on diagnosing speech impediments? I’m so confused?

Is there a possibility your dentist doesn’t like you or does not like working on you as a client? Maybe she didn’t know how to cut you loose, or couldn’t bring herself to dismiss a client, but subconsciously (or consciously) behaved in this way so you would find another dentist.

Also, I agree with mehmudah. Not all, but a great many dentists I’ve met are strange.

    • May 28, 2012 7:22 am

Initially this occurred to me…but then I read the dentist’s reviews on Yelp and I realized I wasn’t the only one who felt this way!

Anyway, I recently found another dentist and so far? So good. 🙂 Crossing my fingers!!
